This competition is part of the British tour and points for rankings will be allocated as a International Open. World Ranking points are also available. Every player participating in non-rookie categories will get a world ranking.

The event is being organised by the English Racketlon Association. All standards are welcome.

Note that all players are required (rookie events are combined with Mens D and Ladies B) to pay the international racketlon federation license fee of £10 (this can be added as an extra category when entering - tick the bottom box).

It's the nature of racketlon that we run 3 world ranking events in the UK a year (all standards welcome). The International Racketlon Federation have introduced this fee in 2009 and made it compulsory for the first time. In 2008 it was only payable on the second event. The International Fee stands for the rest of 2009 so also counts for other events being held in Edinburgh and other destinations around Europe. Participants should add the FIR License category upon entering (if required and not already paid at a previous FIR tournament). Rookie events do not require an FIR License. In 2010 there will be more FIR events in the UK as the quota of international tournaments is increasing.

Players are also encouraged to register on the players corner at www.resultreporter.com where the International Federation are building a global player database. This helps with recognition of the sport and enables World Ranking Points allocation.

Entry Steps

Step 1: Register on www.englishracketlon.org as a user (if you are already registered miss this step). This is your username and password for all englishracketlon.org events. Your registration is confirmed via an email link.

Step 2: Click on the tournament entry page and create a player profile. Again, this is a one off exercise. If already completed, skip this step.

Step 3: Click on the event you wish to enter and pay via paypal. Remember to click the FIR License category as well as your chosen event (if you don't have an FIR License).

Step 4: Register on www.resultreporter.com on the "players corner" (if you are already registered on the players corner miss this step). This is your username and password for all ResultReporter events.

Entry Fee (singles only)

Domestic Player Entry fee = £35. This includes the official English Open t-shirt plus a novelty gift. A ticket for the players buffet on Saturday evening is an additional £5. The FIR License fee is in addition to this if a player does not already have this. Note doubles entry is £30 per pair and does not include any "extras". A recession buster entry fee minus the tournament t-shirt is also being looked into. A discount has been agreed on a one to one basis between the tournament director and RSC members, this is to encourage local participation.

Foreign Player Entry fee = £35 online or 50 Euros payable on the day. This includes the official English Open t-shirt plus a novelty gift. The dinner buffet on Saturday evening is included for foreign players. Email Ray Jordan to request your shuttle service. The FIR License fee is in addition to this if a player does not already have this. Note doubles entry is £30 per pair and does not include any "extras".

There will be a Saturday night buffet probably in the sports centre and then on to a local pub.

Our preferred system is play for your place "Monrad" so every player should have roughly the same amount of matches and be able to play rounds all through the tournament. Pls note that each player will receive a minimum of 3 matches per category.

Accommodation & Travel

We recommend 3 hotels for this tournament. All of them are within 2 to 3 miles of the venue but more importantly they are all very close to London Underground stations on the same line as Fairlop - the station next to the venue. Players are encouraged to purchase Oyster Cards for their travel requirements as this works out much cheaper than cash fares.



1. St Georgio Hotel, Ilford



This is an excellent value for money hotel right next to Gants Hill tube station (100m), and just under 2 miles to the venue. Prices for a triple room work out very cheap for London. Excellent location.

2. Travelodge at 'London Ilford Gants Hill'

Travelodge is a chain of hotels throughout the UK that offer comfort at reasonable prices. This hotel is 400m  (4 minute walk) from Gants Hill tube station and 2 miles from the venue, making it very easy to reach. It is also in an excellent location for bars, restaurants and pubs.

3. Premier Inn at 'Ilford'

Premier Inn is a chain of hotels similar to Travelodge (but slightly nicer). This hotel is situated opposite Redbridge tube station (again, on the same line as 'Fairlop' and 1 along from 'Gants Hill'). It is approximately 3 miles from the venue.

These hotels have all been recommended because of their proximity to tube stations on the Central (red) line - this is the same line as Fairlop (for the venue) as well as Central London in the other direction (approx 30 minutes). They are all 2-3 miles from the venue so 30 minutes or more by foot, but they are the nearest hotels to the venue. Using the tube is very easy and although a single ticket is expensive, you can buy a daily travelcard for £5 which enables you to travel anywhere in London on the tube, buses and normal trains. The organisers are also looking to provide 'oyster' cards for foreign players - these are like transport membership cards which provide much cheaper ticket costs - this is to be confirmed later.

Please note although we can guarantee a shuttle to and from Stansted airport when you arrive and leave (as long as you tell us!!), we probably won't have people available to take people to and from their hotels.

The Sports Centre has a train station next door. From Stansted airport it takes 45 minutes. Stansted is 20 minutes by car so a taxi is also an option with a few player travelling together. Send your shuttle request to Ray Jordan.
